Immunofluorescence Proficiency Testing
One of the goals of Beutner Laboratories is to maintain high standards on tests for autoimmune bullous diseases nationwide.

Beutner Laboratories serves the American Society for Dermatopathology (ASDP) by providing semi-annual proficiency tests. These enable laboratories to check on the inter-laboratory reproducibility of their tests for pemphigus and pemphigoid antibodies.

Registration Deadlines
Spring Program: May
Fall Program: September
Eligibility Testing is open to laboratory directors.
This program is concerned with the quality of indirect IF testing of sera for detection of circulating IgG anti-basement membrane zone and anti-intercellular substance antibodies. The participating physician receives five serum samples and is requested to process these to determine the presence of circulating antibodies and their titers using an immunofluorescence technique with monkey esophagus or other substrate. The participant records the results, including pattern and titer. Each participant will return the recorded results to Beutner Labs, Inc. The results of all laboratories in the same testing event are supplied for comparison with your laboratory to ensure a quality review. Following completion of tests of specimens from Beutner Labs, Inc., participants receive summaries of results obtained by all participants. A certificate is awarded to the laboratory indicating participation in the program.
